Gorgeous things, fun things, things that inspire creativity - art, stamping, snapshots, books, stories and just things that tickle my fancy. And some things that I had fun creating. And in case you are wondering my name is Amisha.
This is one of the collages that I made in Jane Davies' class. We made five collages each but I think this one is my favorite. Jane had brought an amazing array of papers, materials and supplies. And each and every piece of art created in this class was unique, absolutely no two pieces were similar. It was fantastic!

This is what Grunge paper looks like. Now I know it looks like something meant for building construction. But do you want to see what you can do with it? Take a look below.
This was a collage that I made in a class with Tim Holtz. This class was appropriately called the "Patchwork Pandemonium". It is entirely made out of grunge paper. We did all kinds of things to it, distressed it, stamped it, some of it was dry embossed and then painted with acrylics and then distressed. And this is just one of the things that can be done with grunge paper. You can make flowers like roses, grunge paper will hold shape!
And grunge board, which is thicker than grunge paper, is much easier to work with than chipboard. There are loads of ways to use grunge paper. Take a look at the patchwork collage closeups below.
These are the mostly magenta pendants that I made for Karen P. I think these colors worked well together. Simple and colorful.
Remember these panels? And do you remember I had promised to share the technique? So here we go.
The materials you need:
1. A canvas of any size that you like. Nowadays, they sell primed canvases so you don't have to prime them.
2. An old expired credit card or plastic gift card.
3. Fluid acrylic paints (I used the Liquitex paints for this project).
Steps:
1. Squirt out dabs of paint. You don't need to have any specific pattern. Just squirt out dabs of paint anywhere you like.
2. Now get out that old credit card. Scrape the paint on the canvas with this card in different directions.
3. Keep moving the paint until you can't see the white of the canvas. If you like seeing the white of the canvas then don't worry about it.
4. You can let the paint dry and layer several colors on it in the same way.
You can try this technique on paper before you do it on a canvas. That way it will take the pressure off and you can practice as much as you like.

Today's post is about pink and brown and generosity and kindness! So here's a peek at a book I made. This is among the rare posts where I am posting lots of pictures, but I really couldn't resist sharing this!

Last weekend, I had the opportunity of taking three classes with Tim Holtz. This man is a fantastic artist, a genius product designer and a fabulous teacher. You know what always leaves me awestruck is not just the talent of artists like Tim, but their generosity. He is a creative genius but he is kind and generous. He shares so many ideas, tips, genuinely wants you to enjoy the class, gives foolproof instructions and everyone, and I mean everyone walks away with something beautiful. I knew I was in the presence of greatness but I wasn't just impressed, I was touched. And Mario, who organizes the zillion things that have to be brought to these classes (as a student you don't have to bring anything), is super nice! So if you ever have a chance to take a class with Tim - do it! And in the mean time check out Tim's blog.

For this Pink Saturday post I am sharing a pink panel I made. I also made two accompanying panels in purple to go up alongside the pink one. These panels are going to go up on a wall in my living room. Now I am feeling fairly shy about doing this - but if you leave me a comment if you like them, I'll pick a couple of names (using a random number generator!) and make a panel for you. I haven't really shared much of my work other than my cards. So I am trying to do better. This is a collage I made for Kathy for Happy Mail. Kathy is very, very talented and I wanted to send her something that had to do with creativity. So this was what I made for her.
But I bet you must be wondering what I mean by Happy Mail. Happy Mail is something you get in the mail that brings a smile to your face, something other than bills. A very fun concept!
Spritzing has been on my mind for a while! And finally I tried it. The image above is one of my experiments. The technique sounds deceptively simple and it is, once you figure out how much water to spritz or how watery you like your images.
So here's the technique: Color a stamp with a watercolor marker, yes actually brush the marker directly on to the stamp. Spritz the stamp (don't hold the stamp too close to the spritzer) with a spritzer. Then stamp on paper. Like any technique, you can push it as far as you like. Some tips: I used the Marvy Le Plume Markers, watercolor paper and a spritzer that sprays a fine mist.
